COMMENTS: Eugene Higgins (born 1874 in Kansas City, Missouri, died 1958 in New York City He studied in at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Academe Julian. Higgins subject matter was often melancholy, dealing with struggle and loss. His traditional painting style is often said to be more influenced by European painters than american. This is sometimes noted as the reason why his he has had less of an impact than his American contemporaries.
