COMMENTS: This is a well done oil on board by listed American artist Theodore Wassmer ( 1910- ). The painting and frame are in all original great condition, measuring 6 1/2"x7" and 12"x13" with the frame. The painting is signed in the lower right corner Wassmer and there is a label on the reverse that gives information about the artist.
Theodore Wassmer attended school at the American Art School in New York where he studied with artist Raphael Soyer and went on to the Art Students League where he attended classes of Jon Corbino, Yasua Kuniyoshi, Sigmund Menkes to name a few. For years Wassmer had a studio in Carnegie Hall where he painted portraits and created a technique which he calls Glapasto examples of which collectors here in the United States and in Europe have acquired over the years. Wassmer has had one man shows in New York, California, Utah, Nebraska, Florida and Texas. This painting is a nice example of the portraits done in the Glapasto style from Carnegie Hall period.
