COMMENTS: Outstanding modernist landscape with figures by listed Hungarian modernist artist Bela Czene (1911-1999). Czene studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest and in Rome in the late 1930s. He received several painting awards during his lifetime, including awards from the Hungarian National Fine Art Society and the Ministry of Public Education. Czene exhibited at the Hungarian National Salon, the Csok Galleria in Budapest, the Ernst Museum in Budapest, the National Fine Arts Exhibition, and many others. Czene's work is in the collection of the Hungarian National Gallery.This oil painting with ink on masonite is signed lower lower left. It is in good condition with minor spots of paint loss and it measures 26" x 35" (painting size).
