Constant Troyon - Born 1810 in Sevres France & Dies 1865 in Paris France. Known for Barbizon School painting - landscapes in particular. He established himself as one of the most prominent members of the Barbizon School, a loosely associated group of artists working in the small village of Barbizon, France, on the edge of the Forest at Fontainebleau. His work became known to a wider audience through exhibitions abroad. His paintings were initially dedicated to the realistic depiction of the landscape, but mid career, he expanded his range to become known as a professional animal painter.
