COMMENTS: ALFRED BASEL (Austrian 1876-1920) "St. George Slaying the Dragon*" Watercolor and ink on paper. Signed and inscribed on lower margin, verso also inscribed. 19.7 inches x 9 inches (50cm x 22.8cm). Apparently a design for a stained glass window. Basel was a well-known Art Nouveau graphic artist having studied at the Vienna School of Applied Art. He was a member of the Vienna "Secession" and one of the founders of the Oesterreichischer Werkbund." Dates to 1890.
