Frederick Clement Trucksess (1895 - 1997)"The Toreador" Oil on Canvas Laid to Board. Signed lower leftC. Trucksess 1923 lower left. The tag on the back indicates that this portrait was exhibited with the Art League of New York on April 1, 1926.

C. Trucksess, both a painter and a teacher, was born in Brownsburg, Indiana on August 16, 1895. He was a pupil of both E C Taylor, Eugene Savage and William Forsyth. Trucksess was a member of the Boulder Art Guild; the Prospectors; and, Delta Phi Delta. His awards include : Second prize for pastel, Indiana State Fair, 1922; Honorable Mention, Denver Art Museum, 1933. Work: "Woman and Cows" Jefferson School, La Fayette, Ind.' Stage curtain and mural, "Dramatic Masks." University of Colorado
