COMMENTS: Outstanding oil on canvasboard of a man playing the cello by listed Rockport, Massachusetts artist Lou Bankoff (1899 - 1983). Bankoff studied at the Art Students League in New York and worked as a graphic designer and illustrator in New York. A member of the Salmagundi Club and the Rockport Art Association, Bankoff later became a member of the Rocky Neck Art Colony in Gloucester and owned several galleries in Rockport. Bankoff exhibited regularly with the Rockport Art Association.This painting is signed lower right, measuring 9 1/2" x 6 7/8" (painting size). In a vintage frame with chips and losses.
