COMMENTS: Alexander Masyk (1947 - 1921). Alexander Masyk, Master of Fine Arts, was born in the family of the honored artist of Ukraine Vladimir Masyk. From childhood, Alexander was surrounded by an artistic atmosphere. His father took him for sketches, opened to him the nuts and bolts of painting still life and landscape. Naturally, he enrolled at and successfully graduated from Ukrainian Taras Shevchenko State Art School with honor in 1965, and from Kyiv National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture (NAOMA), Ukraine in 1971. Alexander was a classically trained award-winning artist.

Alexander Masyk was a Resident Artist of the prestigious Salmagundi Club of New York from 2019, a member of Oil Painters of America (OPA) from 2019, an elected member of Allied Artists of America (AAA) from 2019, a member of the National Oil & Acrylic Painter’s Society (NOAPS) from 2018, the American Artists Professional League (AAPL) elected member from 2019, Impressionist Society of America (ISA) member from 2019, Audubon Artists member from 2019, Pastel Society of America (PSA) from 2019, National Society of Painters (NSP) in Casein & Acrylic from 2019, National Union of Young Ukrainian Artists from 1976, National Union of Ukrainian Artists from 1995.

From 2012 Alexander resided in New York. Everything that attracted the artist’s attention, turned into pictures, which you would like to have in your dwelling. Alexander Masyk had a special natural gift of the vision of his future work’s composition. He worked quickly, his brush confidently models the form, and his color solutions represented a real solution performance in different genres of which the artist had a perfect command. Artist worked well in oil and tempera painting, pastel drawing, owns etchings, linocuts, and woodcuts.

Alexander Masyk took part in exhibitions from 1970 and  won numerous awards. He visited a lot of countries and his paintings eloquently tell about his trips. In the creative artist’s asset, there are more than 150 exhibitions in Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, China, Greece, and the United States. His works are in numerous museums and private collections in Canada, the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Australia, Switzerland, Morocco, Ukraine, Poland, Russia, Hungary, France, Japan, Egypt, Mexico, and China.
