John Havard MacPherson Oil on Canvas Painting Presented in Original Newcomb Macklin Frame. Titled "Canyon Rocks".  Signed lower left. Label verso reads "Canyon Rocks" J. Havard Macpherson Price $200 (without frame) $250 (with frame). Inscription on verso frame reads "Macpherson, J. Havard "Canyon Rocks" (OK) #9-536A". Frame verso stamped with "N.M. Co." which identifies the Newcomb Macklin frame.

Comments: John Havard MacPherson (Born 1894 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Died 1982 Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania) was a native of Philadelphia known for decorative oil landscapes. He was a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and exhibited frequently. In 1937, he opened a studio in Tucson, Arizona and later helped organize the Southern Arizona School of Art.  A member of the Naval Hospital Corps during World War II, he also originated and directed the art school for patients at the Naval Hospital at Pearl Harbor. Macpherson died in 1982 in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
